The Alive After Five campaign – run by the St Helier Retail Development Group – is inviting all stores to open between 9.30 am and 6 pm, rather than the traditional 9 am to 5.30 pm.
If enough stores sign up, the scheme will be launched next April.
It is hoped that the initiative will help to rejuvenate the town centre, which has suffered from a downturn in the economy and a rise in internet shopping.
