Rain on way after a sun-baked day

The temperature peaked at 31.6°C – but the heat on Wednesday today expected to spark thunderstorms which could linger overnight and into Thursday.

The prospect of downpours will be good news for Jersey Water, as reservoir levels are currently at about 67 per cent of the Island’s total capacity.

Despite the northern end of the Island’s largest reservoir, Queen’s Valley, appearing almost empty, Helier Smith, chief executive of Jersey Water, said that the situation was normal for this time of the year.
