Customs, the States police, the Health Department and local charities are among those which have been involved in discussions to establish how the Island would react in several different scenarios, including the landing in the Island of a boat carrying migrants.

Everything from where the migrants would sleep, how the Island would cater for their health needs and how officers would try to find any extremists or terrorists among the group have been considered.

In a statement released today on behalf of all the agencies involved, a States spokesman said that the Island’s Emergency Planning Office, which plans for a range of extreme situations on a regular basis, had led the discussions.
