DOZENS of French students visited the Island recently to meet their pen pals after months of letter exchanges.
A total of 80 pupils from Anne Frank Primary School in Saint-Pair-sur-Mer in Normandy met students from Year 5 at Victoria College Prep. During their trip, the pupils visited Mont Orgueil Castle and La Hougue Bie, had an introduction to Jèrriais, and did a treasure hunt around St Helier.
The schools exchanged flags and did bilingual activities to help them connect and get to know each other further, including conversing in both French and English.
Younger pupils from Anne Frank Primary School also had the opportunity to discover Jersey’s culture and reunite with their older schoolmates during their visit to the Island on Thursday.
The educational project supported through the joint efforts of the school’s teaching teams, the parents’ association, and the local council of Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, as well as Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche in Jersey.
