Children’s Services bid to hire staff

Earlier this week, the JEP revealed that the expense of recruiting non-permanent employees had risen by nearly 1,400 per cent since 2011, when agency costs were £135,634.19.

The spiralling costs came as the department struggled to fill vacant jobs with permanent employees.

Susan Devlin, director of Community and Social Services, admitted that finding permanent staff was becoming increasingly difficult but that a new recruitment campaign would help to reduce the amount spent on agency workers.
