The comment follows months of speculation that the controversial park option was emerging as the front-runner among ministers – and as campaigners fighting to get the site removed from the shortlist call on the public to send a message to politicians.
The Save People’s Park group want people to gather for a rally in the Royal Square on Tuesday from 12.30 pm to 1 pm ahead of what is expected to be a fiery debate on St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft’s proposal to remove the park from the shortlist – the other options are the Waterfront, Overdale and developing the existing Hospital.
At a packed meeting at the Town Hall on Thursday, the audience made it clear that they did not want the People’s Park to be an option for the site of the new hospital.
