Bailhache brothers to speak at abuse inquiry

The brothers were both senior members of the Island’s judiciary during Operation Rectangle – the police investigation into historical abuse at Haut de la Garenne and other institutions which was launched covertly in 2007.

At the time, Sir Philip was Bailiff and William was the Attorney General, responsible for advising on potential prosecutions.

The Independent Jersey Care Inquiry is investigating how the police dealt with allegations of child abuse and whether any political interference may have hindered potential prosecutions. It is also investigating the running of Operation Rectangle.

Sir Philip is due to appear before the inquiry panel on Tuesday and William is scheduled to give evidence on Thursday and Friday. Hearings are due to begin at 10 am on Tuesday and Thursday and 9 am on Friday.
