Frank Walker: Harper’s claims ‘totally untrue’

Earlier this week, former deputy police chief Lenny Harper said he believed that Mr Walker and former States chief executive Bill Ogley were unsupportive of Operation Rectangle – the police investigation into child abuse.

However, giving evidence to the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry yesterday, Mr Walker, who was Chief Minister between 2005 and 2008, said that was ‘totally untrue’ and that he and the Council of Ministers gave Mr Harper and police chief Graham Power ‘our full and unequivocal support’.

He went on to criticise Mr Harper’s media strategy during the operation, claiming that many of the statements he made to the press were ‘inaccurate’ and ‘unprofessional’.
