David Miller’s father Ian reiterated his family’s and the court’s belief that Burmese nationals Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo are guilty of murdering his son and then raping and killing 23-year-old Hannah Witheridge on the Thai island of Koh Tao in September 2014.
Mr Miller said his family have been vilified online for supporting the court’s decision and has today moved to stress that their agreement with the guilty verdict should not be read as their endorsement of the death penalty.
Speaking exclusively to the JEP, the father of two said: ‘The message we want to get across is that there has been enough death.’
David, a former Victoria College student, and Miss Witheridge were beaten to death on Sairee beach with a garden hoe.
Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo were found guilty of the killings and rape last month and were sentenced to death by injection.
