Death of Jersey’s ‘Mr Entertainment’ Dick Ray

Dick Ray, who was responsible for bringing many high-profile celebrities to the Island, died in hospital in Torquay on Thursday after battling leukaemia for the past two years.

Mr Ray had also been vice-president of the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund, which is responsible for organising the annual Royal Variety Performance.

He sold the Opera House to the States in 1997 after 21 years in charge.

He is survived by his two children, Rachel and Daniel.
