The driver – Niall Linden – was initially charged with causing death by dangerous driving, but the then 35-year-old eventually pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of careless driving and was fined £750 and banned from the road for a year.
Last weekend, two independent experts from the UK began mapping the crash scene after Miss Pavarniece’s family contacted the States police and asked them to re-examine the accident.
Speaking to the JEP this week from her home in Riga, Miss Pavarniece’s mother Daiga Štendenberga said she feels she did not get the truth about what happened to her only daughter.
