Half an hour later he is then due to fly the return leg to Gatwick.

A small reception to mark the start of the service will also be held at Jersey Airport – and the 92 passengers currently booked on the return flight have been invited.

‘I am very proud being from Jersey so to be there making sure that the link is still there after Flybe and to come home and be the first pilot doing it is brilliant,’ he said.
