Boyle off the mark for Saints

TEENAGER Jack Boyle scored his first Southampton Football Club goal in a reserve team game on Monday – a superb decider in a 3-2 win over Exeter City Reserves.

At Staplewood, half-time substitute Boyle capped his influence on the game by scoring, in front of Southampton’s first-team manager and chairman Michael Wilde, with five minutes remaining. JFA chief executive officer Paul Creeden was also at the match and, obviously, he was delighted for the former Island and Jersey Scottish player.

Creeden said: ‘It was a cracking goal and it was no more than Jack deserved because he was excellent when he came on. He started on the left and his pace caused Exeter problems. He was moved to the right because there was a bit more space there and he exploited it really well.’
