DO you know an inspirational woman in Jersey who has made a difference for others?

Nominations are now open for Soroptimist International Jersey’s annual Inspirational Woman of the Year Award.

Islanders who would like to recognise a female community member for her selflessness, dedication, generosity or achievement, as well as a number of other criteria, can go online and fill in a nomination form or collect a copy from town.

The award will be presented to the winner as part of the charity’s afternoon tea event on Friday 27 June at The Savoy Hotel, where last year’s winner, Jersey Women’s Institute Chair, Joy Thomson, will join all inspirational nominees.

The other two finalists last year were Kate Wright, a cultural change and HR consultant, who chaired the Violence Against Women and Girls Taskforce, and Beverley Le Cuirot, founder and director of WellBeing World and the international annual awareness event World WellBeing Week.

Now in its 26th year, the award was initially known as the “Women in the Community Award”. The first winner was the late Ruth Dolbel, who had run the 9th Jersey (St Luke’s) Scout Group with her husband since its inception in 1974.

Jersey’s “Mrs Menopause,” Trudi Roscouet, was the recipient of the award in 2023. A wellness coach and the founder of Vitality40plus, she campaigns to raise awareness of the struggles related to the menopause and how it affects women in the workplace.

Nominations for the 2025 SIJ Inspirational Women of the Year can be completed online via: https://sigbi.org/jersey.
