THE all-singing, all-dancing, all-circus-trick-filled latest production from the Jersey Green Room Club is currently underway.
Held at the Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity, Barnum is co-directed by Simon Thomas and Nigel Gates and centres on the life of Phineas Taylor Barnum, a circus performer, entrepreneur and successful businessman in the 19th century whose influence over others makes anything seem possible – even the impossible.
Billed as a ‘joyful and moving musical portrait of the 19th century’s greatest showbiz legend’, Barnum sees Green Room Club regular Allan Gardner showcasing his own circus skills as the multi-talented title character, while Beki Stanier is playing the role of Barnum’s wife and muse, Charity Barnum.
Speaking to the JEP ahead of the production, Allan said: ‘The Barnum set is an experience in itself and will have the audience enveloped in a feeling of visiting the circus.
‘Having performed in two previous Green Room Club productions at the Royal Jersey Showground, I know that this show is going to be something quite different as it is being performed in the round.’
