Earlier this year the Royal College of Nursing voted in favour of industrial action, including potential staff walk-outs, in response to their pay awards for 2018 and 2019.
But a revised deal of a 3.1% and 3% rises for 2018 and 2019, as well as a guaranteed wage increase of inflation +1.3% for next year, was offered last month and has been accepted by 75% of RCN members, following a staff ballot.
The Jersey Nursing Association, the Island’s other major nursing union, is due to publish the results of a similar ballot it has held on the pay deal shortly.
