According to the States police, the incident happened outside Lloyds Pharmacy in the Parade between 1.30pm and 1.45pm on Monday.
A silver taxi parked in the unloading bay was asked to move by a parking control officer as the space was needed by a Ferryspeed lorry.
However, the driver became abusive and tried to drive his car ‘at speed’ towards the officer, according to the force. No one was injured.
Officers are now keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident, particularly the lorry driver.
