Ports of Jersey this week confirmed that a children’s play area, a sensory room, a multi-faith room and a larger airside departure lounge would all feature within the project.
They have also now released two ‘walk-through’ videos on their website which demonstrate what it could be like for passengers either arriving or departing the facility, once it is upgraded.
In a statement, a spokesman for Ports of Jersey said that the company had been looking at and considering ideas submitted to them by members of the public.
‘To fulfil the increasing demand by passengers, consideration is also being given to the creation of a dedicated passenger VIP departure lounge,’ he said.
‘The project management team and designers have also given consideration to the creation of an exterior terrace that could provide both a viewing option both for travellers and non-travellers.
‘At present the options are not easy to create and have a significant cost implication, but recognising that this is a highly desired feature it is something that the team will continue to evaluate.’
The spokesman also made reference to potentially including a restaurant, similar to The Aviator, which used to be housed in the arrivals terminal.
