Jersey will mark Armed Forces Day on Saturday with an event in the Royal Square involving the Island’s army reservists and military cadets corps
Organiser Flight-Lieut Leighton Jenkins, training officer with the 7 Overseas (Jersey) Squadron, says similar events are taking place across the UK, as a morale boost for Armed Forces personnel and their families.
‘We hope as many members of the public as possible will show their support for current and former members of the Armed Forces by joining us at the Royal Square between 10 am and 3 pm,’ he said.
‘We will have military capability stands from the Jersey Field Squadron and 101 (EOD) Squadron Royal Engineers, a drill competition for the Island’s cadets units, the Band of the Island of Jersey will be playing from 2.20 pm and refreshments and food will be served by Beresford Street Kitchen.’
The Armed Forces flag will be flown at the Cenotaph in the Parade and from the Royal Court building from Monday to Saturday, and on Wednesday army reservists and cadets will wear their uniforms to work and school.
