Jersey passports to be blue

The Jersey Passport Office has confirmed that the change to British passports triggered by the UK’s exit from the EU in March 2019 will also affect Jersey variant British passport holders.

Luke Goddard, assistant director of immigration and nationality at the Customs and Immigration Service, said that the Jersey Passport Office has been working with colleagues in the UK to ensure that Jersey passports will be aligned to the British passport.

And he also stressed that passport holders do not need to take any action before the renewal date in their current passport.

Mr Goddard said that initially, from March 2019, British passports will remain burgundy but will have no reference to the European Union. British passports issued from October 2019 will have a blue cover.

Jersey variant British passports give the same status to holders of British passports issued in the United Kingdom or the other Crown Dependencies.
