James delivers for Lakers as fightback ends Denver’s winning start

LeBron James claimed his first triple double of the season to help the Los Angeles Lakers to a 121-114 win over the previously-undefeated Denver Nuggets.

In a second straight victory, and first home win with the Lakers, James racked up 28 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds on the way to handing Denver their first loss of the season.

On course for a five-game winning streak, the Nuggets led by eight points in the final period, but a late rally from the Lakers saw Lance Stephenson score consecutive three-pointers and James take the lead with a dunk at 3.29 in the fourth and hold out to the buzzer at the Staples Center.

In Oklahoma City, the Thunder remain without a win after falling 101-95 to the Boston Celtics.

Trailing by 16 points at half-time, the Celtics fought back to clinch victory thanks to 24 points from Jayson Tatum and 21 from Marcus Morris.

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain winless this season, losing 110-103 to the Detroit Pistons.

Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin both scored 26 points to give Detroit their fourth straight win, while Cleveland dropped to 0-6 for the first time since 2003/04.

And the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum teamed up to seal a 128-114 win over the Orlando Magic, scoring 22 of Portland’s last 26 points.
