A HAT-TRICK by Jersey Reds hooker TJ Harris and an imperious second-half performance from the set-piece handed the Islanders an overnight lead in the RFU Championship.
Harvey Biljon’s side scored five tries in a 31-22 success at Nottingham on Friday night, with replacement Eoghan Clarke and inside-centre Jordan Holgate also scoring in the second half to overcome both challenging conditions and a spirited home team.
With the game close to being called off due to an icy pitch amid -1C conditions, Jersey topped a fractured game to return to the summit of the league for the first time since September – albeit with champions Ealing set to play Bedford on Saturday.
Former Jersey wing Ryan Olowofela scored for the green-and-whites in the first half, which ended 10-10, and got a second before Nottingham’s other winger, David Williams, grabbed a consolation for the hosts at the end.
