JERSEY REDS claimed a fourth consecutive win in unfortunate circumstances on Saturday afternoon, with their Championship clash at Hartpury being abandoned after a spectator fell ill.
The Island club scored six tries to claim a 40-31 victory in Gloucestershire, having overturned a 12-point deficit before play was halted prematurely.
In an end-to-end 11-try thriller, Jersey fought back from being 31-19 down to grab three tries in under 15 minutes through Will Brown, Eoghan Clarke and Jordan Holgate. They added to a trio of scores in the first half from Scott Van Breda, skipper Lewis Wynne and Jersey-born hooker Harry Doolan.
Players from both sides left the field in the 73rd minute so that a supporter could receive medical attention and the referee subsequently opted to declare full time.
The win, Jersey’s fourth in a row, sets them up perfectly for next week’s visit of league leaders Ealing Trailfinders, which director of rugby Harvey Biljon called ‘mouthwatering’.
