Jets pack enjoy double delight

Team Jets moved up to second in South West Division I Picture: ENGLAND NETBALL

TEAM JETS coach Linda Andrews was pleased to see her squad overcome periods of ‘disjointed’ play to complete another set of back-to-back wins.

The South West Regional League Division I title hopefuls claimed their fifth and sixth wins in a row with convincing displays in Taunton and Bristol, to move up to second in the table.

Defender Molly Carré was Jets’ star performer in a 72-37 triumph over Galmington, before Nicole Goddard helped steer the Island club to a 65-34 success over strugglers Almondsbury.

The second encounter featured an incredible second-quarter show from the travelling party, with Almondsbury being restricted to just two goals in 15 minutes.

Jets claimed no fewer than eight turnovers and sunk 21 shots on goal.

‘It was a disjointed first quarter but having time to reflect at quarter-time helped us develop a different scenario for the second quarter,’ Andrews explained.

‘Becca [Forrest] was flying and with the back-up from Molly she had the confidence to go for the ball outside the circle.

‘Leah Griffin and Rosie Tonner dominated the shooting circle with Jacy Brown and Toni Chaytor providing brilliant feeds. The relentless full-court man-on defence gave us turnover balls galore which helped steady the play.’
