Padel For All returns

Jersey's 'Padel for All' coaches gather at their premises in St Clement

ISLAND schoolchildren will be handed top-tier padel coaching free this spring, as an initiative returns to action.

Padel For All has confirmed plans to visit another ten States of Jersey primary schools in the coming weeks, building on the success of its physical education programmes in 2022 and 2023.

The not-for-profit organisation has offered a route into padel for over 1,500 children from 20 schools in the last two years – driven by a determination to provide opportunities for young Islanders who may often miss out.

With support from Rathbones as primary sponsors, Carey Olsen as a new secondary sponsor and the Jersey Community Foundation, qualified coaches are set to visit classrooms throughout the school year to provide an introduction to padel, before dedicated classes continue at Island Padel’s five-court facility in St Clement.

Every child will then receive a voucher to enjoy time on court with their family.

“After a difficult winter for Jersey’s sporting community, following Storm Ciarán, we’re so pleased to be back in 2024 to give more young people a chance to enjoy a sport we love,” said Padel For All founder Morgan Jubb.

“One of our key objectives is to help improve physical activity levels among children in Jersey, on a fully inclusive basis, and we’re excited to be visiting ten new States schools over the next few months with the help of our sponsors.

“It is so important that sport and physical activity is accessible to everyone and we will do all we can to continue to remove barriers which might prevent participation.”
