VOTING is now open for the Jersey Sports Council Person and Team of the Year awards for 2023.
It marks the first time that the awards have been held since 2017 with a telephone vote deciding the victor from a six-strong shortlist for both the top awards.
Lucy O’Sullivan (archery), Asa Tribe (cricket), Hannah Silcock (table tennis), Natacha Searson (rowing), Libby Hart (shooting) and Filip Nowacki (swimming) have all made strong cases to take the top prize individually with standout 2023 seasons both domestically and abroad.
Meanwhile, the team award also contains a host of worthy candidates.
With the Guernsey Island Games taking centre stage in the summer, the team awards are dominated by top performers on Sarnian shores. Jersey Tennis, Jersey Archery, Jersey Men’s 4x100m relay team (athletics) and Jersey Men’s Football all contributed to a highly successful Games and get the nod in the shortlist.
Meanwhile, Jersey Rowing Club flourished at the Home International Rowing Beach Sprint Regatta and the Victoria College Rifle Team laid claim to their second-ever Ashburton Shield and the first in 62 years, by a remarkable margin of 18 points.
In order to vote for your winner, you must text their abbreviated name (see above), or team name to 07797 921306.
Voting is open until 11.59pm on Monday 18 March and multiple text votes from the same number will be discounted.
The individual and team winners will be announced at the JSC’s Awards night at the Jersey Rugby Club on Wednesday 20 March.
