THE sun shone down on Bouley Bay as the Jersey Motorcycle & Light Car Club held their third hill climb at the famous north coast venue, this time comprising rounds 15 and 16 of the British Hillclimb Championship.
Spectators were treated to some fantastic action as drivers from across the UK gathered to tackle the demanding course in their purpose-built single-seater racing cars.
The format of the day was set to be two practice and four official runs with two of the official runs earning championship points.
Early on, reigning champion Wallace Menzies showed good pace as one of the first drivers to break the 40-second mark.
However, when it mattered the most it was outright Bouley Bay record holder Trevor Willis who claimed winning honours in the first championship run-off with a time of 37.23secs to seal ten crucial points in round 15.
Not far behind were both Matthew Ryder and Alex Summers, who rounded off the podium positions respectively. The second championship run-off saw Summers, fresh from his appearance at Goodwood Festival of Speed, take victory with an impressive time of 37.10secs.
Completing round 16’s podium, Ryder grabbed another second place on the day with third going to Menzies.
Sarnian Nick Saunders performed impressively, placing fifth and seventh among much larger capacity machines.
The lone record to fall on the day was claimed by Stewart Barrow and his Lotus Elise, lowering his own best time from the previous event in May to a new time of 48.92secs.
The popular 351-500cc motorcycle class saw 15 riders tussle for best time of the day.
Matthew Le Brun took top spot aboard his Husqvarna 450 with the ever-consistent Adam Vibert close behind on his KTM.
The final hill climb of the year at Bouley Bay is scheduled for bank holiday Monday 26 August.
Racing is set to start at 10am.
