Wood takes risks – and second

Young star Corey Wood racing for team ACL Breal in the 3rd round of the French National Trials Championship.

JERSEY Motorcycle & Light Car Club Trials competitors Corey Wood and Josh Troy both enjoyed strong performances on the international stage.

Both competitors made the journey to France to compete in the third round of the National series, held in Breal Sous-Montfort.

Wood had the added pressure of riding for ACL Breal, for whom Troy also has had previous experience of being selected.

The sections were well laid out, with each lap measuring around 6km.

The terrain was mixed and varied between rocks and quarry, as well as forest and some technical climbs.

Wood soon got into the swing of things in the ESP 4 cat.

After his first lap, which included the crossing of the famous man-made waterfall, he managed to keep his boots dry and was in joint first alongside four other competitors.

With multiple riders on zero points, he could ill afford to take any safety dabs and had to push hard to get around the second lap as quickly and efficiently as possible.

A different strategy was put forward by Wood to his minder, which was agreed and acted upon immediately.

He took some risks and had to fight to keep balance and control in the sections.

Troy rode consistently in a very competitive TR2 category, with penalty points ranging from three all the way up to 63. He came away with 22 and an impressive 23 clean sections out of the 30.

Wood finished 63 seconds after the quickest time and was awarded second, marking yet another podium for the impressive Jersey talent. Another podium result for Wood with some amazing experiences and knowledge gained.

Wood and Troy extended their thanks to JMC&LCC, ACL Breal, SW Trials & Enduro and Jersey Sport.

The JEP apologises regarding a report last week, where it was stated that Corey Wood was competing in motocross, rather than trials.
