THE ever-popular Jersey Motorcycle & Light Car Club Liberation Two-day Hill Climb drew a stacked entry of 110 competitors.

The event marked the second hill climb of the calendar year, as competitors and spectators alike basked in the sun.

Bouley Bay was the venue, providing ever the technical challenge as it has done so for the past century.

With everything from 1960s motorcycles, to purpose-built racing cars present, there was a varied array of action throughout the competition to enjoy.

Numerous records tumbled, as perfect weather conditions no doubt played a key role in some very fast times.

Alex Salmon continued his success in the Road Going Specialist Production 1401-2000 class as he once again lowered his own record multiple times to finish on 44.57secs.

Not to be outdone by his brother, Michael Salmon claimed his own victory as he powered his OMS CF04 racing car to the top of the hill in a time of 39.48secs to claim the Racing Cars 1601 to 2000 course record.

The oldest standing record to be beaten at the event fell to Stewart Barrow as he steered his Lotus Elise to the finish in 48.98secs, bettering the time of 49.25secs that has stood since May 2013.

Further records fell on four wheels as both Ross Le Noa and Colin Malzard reduced their own times respectively in other classes to keep their names firmly in the Bouley Bay record books.

The 250cc karts class saw thrilling action as both Guernsey pilot Mike Brehaut and local driver Max Jeanne were on fine form in beating the 2016 record, but it was ultimately Jeanne who took the top honours and the record in his name with a time of 41.34secs.

On two wheels, Jack Clayden claimed the sole motorcycle record of the event in the 251-350cc with a time of 44.81secs on the opening day.

The fiercely competitive 351-500cc motorcycle class was once again topped by Matthew Le Brun on his Treevolution Husqvarna 450 with a time of 43.36secs.

In a tense battle he fended off Adam Vibert and Daniel Lagadu, who claimed second and third respectively.

Elsewhere in the class, Sarnian Andy Mechem secured the fastest visiting competitor of the meet.

The next hill climb at Bouley Bay is slated for Wednesday 17 July and also serves as a round of the British Hillclimb Championship.

The JMC&LCC are anticipated a host of the fastest hill climb vehicles in the British Isles to flock to Jersey.

Racing is due to start at 10am.
