FOR the first time, the Jersey Motorcycle and Light Car Club hosted a trials event in the summer, with excellent uptake.

After a late change of venue, St Peter’s Valley was the venue for the start of the Summer Cup.

The muddy Moulins was not quite the venue participants are used to, with tough technical sections and roots doing their best to upset the competitors’ rhythm.

In the Adult A class, the full commitment of the riders gave spectators a taste of what the sport is really about.

A log that required leaping around section 8 required high speed and skill. Taking first place was none other than Adam Le Cheminant, who survived a nasty slip that might have cost less capable riders dearly, but was managed expertly to secure the win with 29 points.

Second went to young Tom Le Breton who stamped his authority in the Adult Expert class and rode with a whole new level of confidence to score 47 points.

Finishing in third place was the ever reliable Lee Rogan, who rode consistently well to score 54 points.

An electrifying battle in the Adult B+ class saw old and new contest the crown. Second place went to Dan Lowe, who scored 88 points, with top spot going to the impressive Conor Carré with 83 points.

The Junior B+ class was won with a fantastic performance by Kerry Knowles on his 2024 Factory Beta.

His score of 77 points would have been enough for him even to claim the overall Adult B+ class win as well, had he chosen to enter.

Third place in the Adult B class went to Ryan Gregory with a score of 68, who fought a very close battle with younger brother Kieran. However, it was Kieran who took second with 66 points, a welcome return to the sport after a horror crash racing motocross last year in the United States.

But first place was taken by the dominant Glen Hamel, whose score of just 24 points was slightly higher than his usual single digit scores and proved how tricky conditions were.

The Adult C+ class was won by the smooth riding of John Philpot on the Vertigo, showing the rest of the field how it is done with his 29-point score. Second place went to Sean Copp with 48 points, while just two points behind was Paul Williamson.

In the Adult C+ Twinshock class, club chairman Stew Le Breton produced a fine ride and a score to stick him in the mix with the more modern bikes in the class.

Finally, in the Adult C class, Jon Mallen took home the win with 76 points. Second place and just one behind was the impressive debutant Charles Brien on 77 points, while Amanda Wright took third on 97.

The JMC&LLC extended their heartfelt thanks to all riders for a fantastic event.

The next race is scheduled for Sunday June 23 at AAL Recycling in La Collette.
