THE Farmers Caesareans against Old Victorians battle continued to heat up last weekend as the Premier Division turned their focus to T20.

Farmers snatched the honours in the 40-over format, traditionally OVs’ bread and butter.

However, it was OVs who hit back in the T10, to make it one-a-piece in the overall standings.

Buoyed by Charlie Brennan’s scintillating form in domestic cricket, the T10 victors grabbed a win against ATF St Ouen Springfield.

Chasing 133, the teenager played his innings of the year with a 50-ball century comprised of 14 fours and five sixes.

Elsewhere, Farmers were also keeping up the pressure, with a massive 103-run victory over RGA Walkovers.

Josh Lawrenson (80 not out) and Zak Tribe (88) put up a stout 150 opening partnership as Walkovers required 201 to win the match.

Unfortunately for them, they could muster only 97 in response from the allotted 20 overs.

The match everyone had been waiting for was Farmers against OVs, in what was sure to be a thriller between two sides in electric form.

With defending champions Farmers batting first, Josh Lawrenson scored 38 off 27 deliveries prior to Brennan dispatching him in the ninth over.

However, batsmen two to seven in the order could manage only 34 between them as OVs rattled through the order.

Up stepped Will Perchard at eight, who made a vital 25 runs to lift his side to 115/7.

Despite the late rally, OVs would have felt pretty happy about the target.

Brennan (26) and James Duckett (21) got the side off to a smooth start, while captain Luke Gallichan added 13.

However, things went south quickly for OVs as four of the next five batsmen were removed for ducks.

Scott Simpson (17) gave his team a fighting chance, but Farmers managed to remove the line-up for just 94 runs to secure a 21-run victory and ascend to the top of the T20 standings.

St Ouen Springfield also took on Walkovers in a blockbuster Saturday of cricket, with the latter securing the win, setting 137/5 off their 20 overs.

SOS could manage only 127 in response.

Farmers also enjoyed success at home in Division 2, as their third team got the better of visitors St Ouen Springfield Strikers.

Batting first, the hosts set a solid total of 169/8, with Stefan Schausberger proving the pick of the bunch with a retired half-century.

The two openers, Jamie Henderson (23) and Louis Dean (36), also enjoyed valuable contributions.

Strikers batted well, however the required rate was always going to prove challenging.

George Cousins (36), Joe De Pina (23) and Charlie Pallot (36) were all in good form for the visitors, but they could manage only 120 in response.

Elsewhere, OVs Development XI were successful over St Ouen Springfield Sixers.

Batting first, OVs set a target of 173/3 as Sam Devy (52) and Matt Webb (85 not out) did much of the heavy lifting.

Sixers finished on 134/9, as OV’s Oliver Ferguson – who is aged just 13 years old – took six wickets from his three overs, including a hat-trick.
