JERSEY Women return to competitive action in a five-match series against Northern Knights this week.

Previously they have travelled to Belfast as the partnership with the Irish province has developed.

In 2020, Knights won 3-0, but things were tighter the following year when Jersey won one and lost another by just one run in losing the series 2-1.

‘These fixtures are an exciting part of our season and we are delighted to be hosting this year,’ said head coach Lee Meloy.

‘Last year was a close series with some fantastic skills shown by both sides.

‘We have had a brilliant start to the season in Paris and recently against Guernsey but this will be a step up in quality of opposition.’

He said his side will have to come out with confidence and take the game to the opposition.

‘The players have a great chance to showcase their talent on home soil.

‘It promises to be a great three days of competitive cricket.’

The first two games take place at FB Fields today at 10.30am and 2.30pm.

The series then moves to Grainville. There will be one match on Thursday, starting at 11am. On Friday, game four will be at 11am and the last match is at 3pm.

Jersey Cricket has also announced the retirement of honorary treasurer Paul Gothard after a decade of service.

He is succeeded by Yezdi Patel, who has worked alongside Gothard since late last year.

‘We would like to thank Paul for his long and valuable service to Jersey Cricket as our Treasurer,’ said Jersey Cricket chairman John Harris.

‘Every organisation needs a knowledgeable, focused and committed approach to its financial management and Paul has fulfilled this admirably for us over many years.

‘We look forward to Yezdi taking up the role on a sole basis with immediate effect.’
