Star-studded line-up for La Moye legends

Former England football captain John Terry is due to play in the opening Celebrity Series event at La Moye in June

BIG-NAME golfers and sporting celebrities are among those set for an appearance at La Moye Golf Club next month as the Legends Tour season returns.

Island resident Ian Woosnam, the 1991 Masters champion, will lead a star-studded line-up for the Jersey Legends event from 9-12 June, alongside fellow former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley and Major winners Paul Lawrie and Michael Campbell.

A pro-am Celebrity Series event will also take place, while amateur golfers are being offered the chance to be a part of the action, under full tournament conditions, in the Alliance Series.

Jockey Sir AP McCoy, Rugby World Cup-winning scrum-half Kyran Bracken and former England football captain John Terry are among the names confirmed for the celebrity event, alongside television and radio presenter Vernon Kay.

The return of the Jersey Legends to the calendar follows numerous high-profile tournaments at La Moye in recent decades, including the DP World Tour’s Jersey Open, between 1978-95, and the European Seniors Tour, which was last staged in the Island in 2017.

La Moye has also hosted the senior Jersey Open 17 times.

Woosnam said: ‘It will be fantastic to see some familiar faces again and what better way to have my first official Legends Tour event of the season in Jersey, in a place that is very special to me.

‘The Jersey Legends is all set to be an incredible event, as you can already see from the impressive line-up and with it being played at La Moye Golf Club, which is my home club, it is an event I am very much looking forward to.’

Weekend tickets for the event will start from £15, with single-day access starting from £8.
