THE JFA Combination leagues were not without their thrills and spills over the week, with hat-tricks, cup action and red cards headlining a packed schedule.
In the Women’s Division, Guernsey FC continued their brilliant season, with a 0-3 victory at Le Couvent over Rozel Rovers.
The goals were shared by Candice Bougourd, Amy Dallamore and Codie Le Flem for the Sarnians, who are now eight wins from eight in their first season in the Jersey league.
Out west, Jersey Wanderers closed the gap to second-placed Rozel, with a 3-1 victory over visiting St Peter.
A Sam Silva brace leaves Wanderers third in the five-team division.
Soraya Da Conceicao got St Peter’s lone goal.
Meanwhile, the men’s top flight shelved league aspirations for the Jersey FA Cup.
Jersey Wanderers booked their place in the semi-final with a 2-0 win over St Brelade, as Arthur Illingworth and Harry Scott netted.
They will face St Clement in a month’s time, after the Anchors dispatched Sporting Academics 5-0 behind a brace from Darren Coyle, while Louis Guillard, Connor O’Shea and Seaney McColgan grabbed one apiece.
On the opposite side of the draw, the youngsters of St Paul’s defeated Madeira 4-2 thanks to a brilliant hat-trick from Callum Gilroy and one from Sonny Cassidy.
Madeira’s talisman Diogo Velosa got both of their goals.
St Paul’s will face Grouville in the other semi-final, after St Clement Reserves handed them a walkover.
Meanwhile, in the Jersey FA Bowl, Michael Hood’s strike for St Brelade Reserves proved enough to secure a 1-0 victory over Sports Club of Jersey.
Back to league action, and in the Premiership 2, a feisty encounter between Dragoes de Jersey and St Ouen’s ended up in an abandonment.
Vitor Gouveia looked to have done enough to secure a Dragoes victory, but Jake Prince scored late goals in the 85th and 88th minutes to put St Ouen into the lead.
Tempers flared and Michael Martins, Rui Marques and Paulo Correia were all dismissed for Dragoes, before the referee abandoned the match in the 90th minute.
Both sides entered the game in great form, having only dropped one game each and currently occupy second and third in the table.
In slightly calmer waters, St John beat Rozel Rovers 3-1* with goals from Daniel Stevens, Christian De Oliveira and Ethan Boudin.
Victory sees them top the table, three points ahead of St Ouen after their abandonment.
First Tower United were handed a walkover from bottom-placed St Lawrence.
A trio of fixtures in the Championship 2 saw Grouville C cruise to an 8-1* win over Rozel Rovers Reserves.
Ajay Tailor scored a brilliant hat-trick, alongside goals from Ross Davison, Stephen Coleman, Jamie Roscoe and Kian Planner.
They are level on points at the top with St Ouen’s C, who comprehensively beat Trinity 5-1.
Jack Bara (2), Kacper Smilek, Andre Marques and Leonardo Perestrelo scored for the victors, while Aiden Johnson scored Trinity’s lone goal.
Elsewhere, St Paul’s Reserves won 5-2 over Sporting Academics Reserves in a mid-table clash.
A Craig Leich brace and one apiece from Joseph Gardner, Christopher Conning and Louis Robinson sealed the win, while Yogesh Ramnochane and Kadiraven Pareatumbee were on target for Accies.
A 4-4 thriller played out in the O35s Division between St Clement and St Peter.
Matthew Rawlings (2), Kieran O’Neill and Robert Telfer struck for the easterners, but were cancelled out by goals from Lucas Parker (2), James Jones and Andrew Vaughan for St Peter.
Meanwhile, in the Jayson Lee Memorial Trophy, St Clement O35s won a high-scoring affair with St Lawrence *6-4.
Matthew Godel’s brace and singles from Philip Kendall and James Bower proved in vain for St Lawrence.
There was a trio of matches in the Alexforbes & Hepburns Walking Football Division.
Portuguese FC of Jersey maintained their lead atop the table, with a 3-1 success over St Ouen’s.
Helder Da Luz grabbed two and Luis Bento also scored, while Daniel Craven was the lone scorer for the parish outfit.
St John kept the pressure on Portuguese with a 3-1 win against St Paul’s, courtesy of a couple from Jason Oeillet, while John Doublard also netted.
Simon Logan got the sole goal for St Paul’s.
It was plain sailing for St Peter, who comprehensively beat Rozel Rovers *5-1.
Chris Grant was the lone bright spot for Rozel on a challenging day.
