FORMER Jersey Bulls and Tranmere sports analyst Sam Bickley, has now landed an internship at the academy of Premier League side Everton.

Bickley is set to commence his new role with the historic club on 27 June as a performance analyst within the academy’s under 16s set-up.

On a daily basis, Bickley will work with the analysis and coaching teams for training session and match-day preparations, presenting video analysis to players to help prepare them for the threats the opposition will pose.

“I’m delighted to get this opportunity,” said Bickley. “I owe this opportunity to the Bulls’ set up, they’re the guys who helped me make my start.

“From my work there, they were able to help me land the gig with the Tranmere Rovers first team. For a non-league club, the opportunities they offered were amazing.

“I spent six months at Tranmere in their analysis department, which was a great experience.

“Every day we’d be in the managers office having meetings with the manager himself, Nigel Adkins, and all the other coaches and analysts.

“It really helped me learn about the ins and outs of how a football club is run and what specific demands various people at the club are put under.

“Now getting the chance to step up from that level to a Premier League academy is a big jump and a real dream come true.”

The opportunity to join Everton came through Bickley’s studies at Liverpool John Moores University, where he is currently undertaking a degree in sports performance analysis.
