WOMEN’S football takes centre stage at Springfield on Saturday as Jersey’s top talent welcome the Army Reserve.

Chad Morris’ side has not played since the Muratti in May 2022 but the Caesareans are on the brink of an action-packed schedule as they prepare for this summer’s Island Games.

The friendly clash [5pm kick-off] is currently the only pre-Games fixture in the diary, although Morris does have a busy training plan in mind.

‘Once the girls have finished their club season it will be full-on all the way through to the Island Games,’ he said. ‘We’ll have two football sessions and one physical session every week.

‘They’re buzzing to play this game. They love representing Jersey at every opportunity they get … they relish it and we definitely want as big a crowd as we can get down there to support the girls.

‘Whenever you play the services you know they will be physically fit. It will be a physical battle.’

Teenagers Ella Docherty, Poppy Benest and Leah Morris are set for their Jersey debuts, alongside the experience of the likes of Holly Muirhead, Jodie Botterill, Eve Watson and Libby Barnett.
