JERSEY BULLS boss Gary Freeman says Farnham Town gave his side a taste of what to expect on a weekly basis next season – if they earn promotion.

A Farnham side sprinkled with new talent became only the second team to take league points off the Bulls at Springfield on Saturday, while offering an insight into life within the eighth tier of English football.

Daryl Wilson’s opener for the hosts was matched by a fine volley from Max Blackmore for a 1-1 draw that keeps the Island club seven points adrift of Combined Counties Premier South leaders Walton & Hersham.

‘Their fitness levels were incredible,’ said Freeman at full-time on Saturday afternoon.

‘It felt like a taste of what the level of football will be a tier up from here. We can expect tough matches like this one week-in, week-out.

‘We’re certainly not used to this level of intensity in our games. Usually we are given time and space on the ball – we were not granted that today.’
