Earlier this year the Football Association agreed to restructure what is colloquially known as the ‘non-league pyramid’, creating a number of extra spaces to fill in Steps 4 and 5 [eighth and ninth tier]. As a result, over 100 Step 6 clubs have been moved up the ladder based on their performances over the past two seasons.
Bulls were strong favourites to earn a promotion that was cruelly taken away from them when their inaugural season was null-and-voided following the Covid-19 outbreak.
The Islanders had mathematically achieved promotion from Division I of the Combined Counties League, having won all of their 27 league games, before the FA made their controversial decision. The club continued their perfect form with four more league wins in the beginning of the 2020-21 season before that was forced to be curtailed as well.
The restructure has led to a split within the CCL, with the Premier Division split into two regional divisions – ‘North’ and ‘South’.
Bulls, placed into the South division, will face 12 teams who have retained their spots, plus former Division I rivals Farnham Town and Walton & Hersham and five clubs relocated from nearby leagues.

‘The players have demonstrated that they should be playing in Step 5 from previous performances and we now look forward to the new season where they can compete at a level that will challenge them.’
