FLIPS, tricks and leaps are set to light up Les Quennevais Skatepark tomorrow, as the skateboarding spectacle of Bowl  Crock is scheduled to unfold from 10am.
Bowl  Crock, a project from the charity Skate Space, is entering its third year, and organisers are bringing it back bigger and better than ever before.
Aptly named the Carnival of Skateboard, this event is a huge celebration of not just immense talent on the board, but also the thriving community that comes with it.
The art of skateboarding may have transformed and evolved greatly since its inception in the 1950s, but one thing has always remained true – skateboarding has a place for everyone and anyone.
That spirit of the sport will be exhibited from 10am, as inclusive, accessible sessions will be ran.
Three-time WCMX world champion Tomas Woods is known to be one of the sport’s very best and, fortunately for the public, the opportunity will be open for wheelchair users to try out adaptive skateboarding with him.
Meanwhile, those with reduced mobility will get the chance to try the board sport for themselves with the Skateboard Jersey Adaptive Programme.
Here, specially adapted skate frames will be used to allow those with reduced mobility to enjoy all the wonders the park has to offer.
“Skateboarding really has something for everyone,” said event organiser Natalie Mayer. “We want this event to show that no matter who you are, no matter your skillset or experience, there’s a place for you down here at the park to try and start skateboarding.
“The community here is amazing, there’s just such a mix of people down here. We’re lucky to have a great facility here – it’s really one of the best skateparks in the UK – and the community has continued to grow.”
Then from 12pm, the highly anticipated main event will begin, where some of the finest skateboarding talent across Jersey and the UK, as well as anyone who is keen to drop in and get involved, will come together to put on an extravagant show.
It will commence with a heartfelt and emotional moment, as the Danny Cram Memorial Bowl Opener will usher in the festivities.
In honour of the late Cram, a bagpiper will kick things off before the event storms into full-force.
Whether they are amateurs or professionals, children or adults, it is all about getting involved and, with skateboarders free to carry out any interpretation they wish, there is just no telling the wonders you will see.
“There’s no rules – any skater can do any interpretation of skateboarding that they want to and there’s loads of different kinds,” continued Mayer.
“We’ve got boys, girls, adults, kids, professionals and amateurs, Rad Dads – basically anyone that wants to can drop in and there’s no schedule.
“There will be people launching off into the air, flips, spins and there’ll be crowds gathered round quite tight cheering everyone on with MC’s on the microphones, making for a real high energy.”
“After that, we will be hitting up a new element about every 45 minutes and we’ll be bringing the crowds with us, concentrating all the park’s energy on individual areas.
“There’s also street food and live DJ music to pump up the atmosphere even more.”
After the bowl opener, skaters will then be challenged to tackle a wide range of apparatus.”
Whether it is the flips and airs of the Turbo Euro / 10 stair, the pumping and speed of the Vert Wall, the grinds and slides of the Ledge Jam or the thrills of the Gov Gap Jam, there will be no limit to the tricks on show.
