ASA Tribe has been retained as part of the Paarl Royals squad for the 2027 edition of the SA20.
The South African T20 franchise competition is scheduled to run between January 17 to February 21, 2027.
Tribe, 23, enjoyed a breakthrough 2026 campaign in Paarl and has been rewarded with a confirmed spot in their 19-player roster ahead of the October 7 player auction.
Currently enjoying a successful Hundred campaign with Welsh Fire, Tribe will re-join the Paarl Royals at Boland Park alongside current Fire teammate and newly re-appointed England Test captain, Joe Root.
The Royals also feature star international names such as fellow Englishmen Dan Lawrence and 18-year-old Thomas Rew, alongside Zimbabwean Sikander Raza, West Indian spinner Gudakesh Motie and Afghanistan duo Azmatullah Omarzai and Mujeeb Ur Rehman.
A strong home player contingent features South African international stars David Miller, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne and fast bowling duo Ottneil Baartman and Nqobani Mokoena.
The 2026 edition of the tournament, Tribe’s first, saw the men in pink finish the league format in third place.
They progressed to the playoffs, where they won the Eliminator against the Joburg Super Kings, before losing to the eventual winners Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Qualifier 2.
Tribe scored 143 runs across nine innings averaging 20.43, however his standout moment came in an excellent 100-run opening partnership with Pretorius against MI Cape Town.
Tribe scored 51 from 34 balls against a Cape Town bowling attack featuring Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan.
His exploits earned him recognition from some of the sports biggest names – particularly from Kevin Pietersen – which jumped his name into the headlines.
Jersey’s first ever home-grown professional will be looking to kick on in his second campaign and, hopefully, push the Royals a step further and lift the trophy for the first time.
