JERSEY’S women cricketers head to Switzerland next week for a four-match quadrangular series in Zurich.

The islanders will take on hosts Switzerland twice, alongside single fixtures against Spain and Brazil.

The tournament will run from Monday 27 to Friday 31 July at Embrach Cricket Ground.

The competition offers an important test for Liam Cook’s side, who will play four international matches in the space of three days against a mix of familiar and new opposition.

While Brazil and Spain are well-known rivals, Switzerland will provide a fresh challenge as Jersey continue to build experience in the international arena.

Every match will be streamed live by the European Cricket Network.

Head coach Cook believes the tournament is another valuable step in the programme’s continued growth.

“We’re really looking forward to the opportunity to play in Switzerland,” he said.

“We’ll come up against a new challenge in the hosts, while also facing familiar opposition in Brazil and Spain, which makes for a great mix.

“The tournament promises to be a good test for the squad. Playing against quality international opposition is exactly what we need as we continue to develop and challenge ourselves.

“We’ve had strong availability throughout the build-up, the players have prepared well, and there’s a real sense of excitement within the group. We’re looking forward to getting out there and representing Jersey.”

With four fixtures packed into a busy schedule, Jersey will have the chance to assess their progress against a variety of international opponents as they continue to gain valuable experience on the European stage.
