Jersey produced a record-breaking batting display in Cyprus this afternoon, piling up their highest-ever T20 International total of 280 for 3 to hammer Croatia and book a qualification showdown with Group B winners Guernsey.
The islanders’ top order fired on all cylinders in their final Group A fixture of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier, with Harrison Carlyon, Patrick Gouge, Nick Greenwood and Jonty Jenner all blasting half-centuries in a brutal assault featuring 14 fours and 24 sixes.
Having won the toss and chosen to field, Croatia were quickly made to regret their decision as Carlyon and Gouge tore into the attack from the outset.
Fresh from becoming only the third Jersey player to pass 1,000 T20I runs, Carlyon combined superbly with Gouge in an opening stand worth 142 in just 11.3 overs.

Carlyon reached his half-century first from 31 deliveries before Gouge followed in just 24 balls, raising the milestone with a towering maximum.
Their partnership included nine fours and 11 sixes before Carlyon eventually departed for a devastating 83 from 42 balls, superbly caught on the deep midwicket boundary.
Croatia struck again in the following over to remove Gouge for 58 from 29 deliveries, but any hopes of slowing the scoring disappeared once Greenwood and Jenner came together.
Jenner survived a first-ball chance in the covers and Croatia paid heavily, as the pair raced to a 50 partnership in only 17 deliveries.
Greenwood smashed two fours and seven sixes in a breathtaking 66 from 24 balls, bringing up his half-century with three consecutive maximums.
At the other end, Jenner blasted Jersey’s fastest-ever T20I fifty from just 16 deliveries before finishing unbeaten on 66 from 23 balls.
After reaching 119 without loss at halfway, Jersey accelerated spectacularly, smashing 161 runs from the final 10 overs.
Croatia responded aggressively through opener Connor Carroll, who followed up his 150 against Switzerland with another remarkable innings.
The visitors raced to 87 for two in the powerplay, with Carroll matching Jenner’s 16-ball fifty and eventually making 74 from 31 deliveries.

However, once George Richardson had him caught by Jenner at long-off, Croatia’s resistance faded and Jersey closed out a memorable victory.
Blampied (left) returned well to take the fourth wicket, running to take an excellent catch over his shoulder off his own bowling.
Zak Tribe’s late introduction helped mop up the tail as he claimed 3 for 13 late on, Croatia crumbling from 146 for 3 to 171 all out in 19.3 overs.
Jersey will now meet Guernsey in the final after the Sarnians, led by captain Ollie Nightingale, finished top of Group B, also with four wins from four.
With today and Friday as rest days, the Channel Island rivals will face off on Saturday [1.30pm BST] for qualification to the next stage.
