THE Jersey Sports Council Awards are back, bringing a strong list of nominees to exemplify what has been an immensely successful year for the Island’s sporting community.
Sports Person of the Year 2024 Filip Nowacki is back in the running ready to defend his title, after a stellar year in the pool has seen him take two World Junior Championship titles in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke, as well as claiming a European Junior record and winning a heap of medals in Orkney’s Island Games among many accomplishments.

Other candidates for the illustrious prize include Michael Rive – who brought Jersey their first lawn bowls gold at the Island Games since 2005, medal-winning archer Mollie Perrett and the electrifying Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally champion Sam Touzel.
Meanwhile, Jersey’s Island Games teams are dominating the field in the Sports Team of the Year category, with the archery, athletics and cycling teams all nominated. Farmers Cricket Club, St Brelade’s Petanque Inter Parish team, the Jersey U18 Girls Senior Schools International table tennis team and the Jersey Volleyball Island Ladies squad are also in the running.
Other awards being contested include the Rose Bowl for Disability Sport, the Sid Guy Memorial Trophy (lifelong achievement), Colin Welsh Memorial Trophy (unsung hero) and the JEP U18 and O18 Sporting Achievement awards.
