BRADLEY Andrews-Callec delivered an impressive and composed performance to claim a podium finish in the Under-20 men’s race at the South East England Cross Country Championships, held at Beckenham Place in London on Saturday 24 January.
Arriving off the back of victory at the Hampshire County Championships, the Jersey athlete carried his fine form into a highly competitive regional field, lining up with confidence against some of the strongest junior runners in the south of England.
Conditions were favourable for cross-country racing, with firm underfoot terrain, temperatures of around 8°C and only occasional muddy patches across the demanding 8km course. Andrews-Callec settled quickly, positioning himself comfortably among the leading group during the early stages.
As the pace increased and the field began to fragment, he showed notable maturity to judge his effort effectively, remaining prominent near the front.
Running much of the latter stages in isolation, Andrews-Callec demonstrated both strength and resilience to maintain third place, before producing a strong finish to secure a deserved podium result.
