ACTION in domestic hockey continues to sizzle as Division 1 reaches it’s league decider tomorrow.
Over the past week, some important results on either side of the success scale are shaping up all four divisions nicely.
Game of the Week
Victoriana 2 – 1 Hunters
Facing their final game of the Men’s Division 2 season, Victoriana entered their clash with Hunters needing a win if they are to have a chance at winning the title.
Victoriana heading into the game in second place behind Integritas JHC Lions, but they came out of the blocks with relentless energy, applying a high and aggressive press that immediately pinned Hunters deep inside their own half.
Wave after wave of pressure resulted in a barrage of short corners—eight in total—but despite the volume of opportunities, the Hunters’ defence and goalkeeper held firm.

Against the run of play, Hunters found a rare moment of respite when a controversial decision handed them a short corner of their own.
From the set piece, Victoriana initially did well to block the first strike, but the rebound fell perfectly to Jake Buckingham, who reacted quickest and swept the ball home from close range to give Hunters a surprise 1–0 lead.
However, the setback failed to disrupt Victoriana’s rhythm. They continued to press aggressively and soon earned another short corner.
Charlie Reid drove a powerful strike on goal, only for the Hunters keeper to pull off a sharp save. Fortunately for Victoriana, Henry Dowling was perfectly positioned to pounce on the rebound and level the match before half-time.
The teams went into the break at 1–1, with Victoriana very much in control of the game.
The restart saw more of the same from Victoriana, maintaining their high pressing game and dictating play.
Their persistence paid off when Merrion Carter surged down the by-line, beating his marker before delivering a pinpoint cross across the goalmouth. Sunny Reid met it beautifully at the far post, slotting home to give Victoriana a well-deserved 2–1 advantage.
Trailing once again, third placed Hunters began to grow back into the game with some tidy link-up play and improved ball retention.
Victoriana, perhaps protecting their lead, dropped slightly deeper, inviting pressure.
Hunters created a handful of half-chances in the closing stages, but nothing that overly troubled Victoriana’s goalkeeper, Andy Brown, who remained composed and assured throughout.
The final whistle blew and confirmed Victoriana’s win. Eyes now to Lions on December 12 where they face Victoria College 2nd XI, a win or draw is needed for Lions to win the Jersey Men’s 2nd Division.
Men’s 1st Division

Tomorrow evening sees the finale of a thrilling title push, where the league leading Old Victorians Convicts face off against Crusaders, with just one point separating the two.
Crusaders enter the clash undefeated from their nine games thus far, with six wins and three draws. However, the Convicts boast seven wins, one draw and one loss to give them the slimmest of advantages heading into this mammoth fixture.
A win for either side would claim the division bragging rights, however, due to the superior goal difference for the Convicts, nothing but a win will be enough for Crusaders to leapfrog them.
Last Saturday saw a gritty clash closer to the bottom of the division, where Walkers Vanguards and Hautlieu shared a competitive 2-2 draw.
Hautlieu, who are still chasing their first win of the 1st Division campaign, netted through Morgan Rennie and Rupert Lee, but they are still waiting for that elusive win after strikes from Mikes James and Tom Sibley sealed the draw.
Ladies 1st Division

JTC RWB Nomads 1s extended their command over the Ladies 1st Division with a solid 3-1 victory over Caesareans Dragons.

Tallulah Spry bagged a brace for the Nomads, alongside yet another goal for the experienced Chrissie Helmholt-Kneisel, cancelling out the Dragons lone goal from her son, Lex Helmholt-Kneisel.
Elsewhere, Jersey Ladies Hockey Club 1s netted four against All Pets Quackers 1s in their 4-2 victory, Emily Wilson at the double backed up by goals by Lucy Kirby and Emma Bower.
Eve Anthoine and Lucinda Gouveia were the scorers for Quackers as they remain in second spot, JLHC closing the gap in third with this win.
Men’s 2nd Division

Victoriana’s win over Hunters keeps them in top spot in the division, however Integritas JHC Lions kept the pace up on them in second place with a crucial 2-1 win over the Ladies Island 1st XI.
Sam Le Boutillier and Arnou Helmholt-Kneisel were at the front for the Lions to seal the win, despite a well taken goal from Eve Anthoine for the Ladies.
The Lions remain one point behind Victoriana with a game in hand, while the Ladies side sit middling in fourth spot.
Ladies 2nd Division

Three games featured in the Ladies 2nd Division with goals galore across the board.
League leaders Walkers Falcons have opened up the slightest of advantages over Walkers Hawks in second, ahead by just two in the goal difference column, helped by their 6-1 win over JLHC 2s.
Lex Helmholt-Kneisel continued his fine goalscoring form with a brilliant hat-trick, backed up well by fellow scorers Lachlan Burton, Leo Holbourn and Harvey Bell.
Although Freya Thorogood netted a consolation for the Ladies 2s, the five goal win has done the Falcon’s title ambitions no end of good.
Walkers Hawks did win their game over RWB Nomads 2s however, Scott Kingham netting a double in their 4-1 victory that also saw Hawks goals from Will Poole and Alfie Sinclair.
Tara Humphrey was on target for the Nomads 2s who sit in third spot, but the two Walkers sides are running away with the title race that could go all the way.
At the other end of the table, All Pets Quackers 2s scored three but found themselves on the end of a rout by Walkers Eagles.
Harvey Bell bagged an excellent hat-trick, Lochlan O’Brien scored two and Savannah Hern, Felix Eastwood and Theo Mathews as the Eagles scored eight in an emphatic performance, despite goals for Quackers 2s from Eleanor Vandermerwe-Mahon, Emilie Le Breuilly and Elina Durbano as they continue to look for their first win of the campaign.
