JERSEY junior snooker player Archie Greier will step onto one of the sport’s most eye-catching stages this evening as he competes in the Junior Snooker 900 knockout in Reading.
The event, which begins at 7pm, puts a high-octane twist on traditional snooker and has quickly become known for its rapid, crowd-friendly format.
Greier is one of eight young talents in the draw, with the tournament played over a straight knockout: quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, all on the same night, with prize money on offer.
Each frame lasts just 900 seconds (15 minutes) creating a frantic race for points under pressure. Players have 20 seconds per shot, every shot must make a cushion or result in a pot, and any foul hands the opponent ball-in-hand. The format, inspired by the Snooker Shoot Out, rewards quick thinking, bold play and composure under the clock.
The entire competition is being streamed live on Pluto TV. Viewers in Jersey will need to use a VPN to access the broadcast.
Greier heads into the event looking to make his mark on one of junior snooker’s most exciting stages.
