FOLLOWING a three week break, women’s rugby is back tomorrow as Jersey RFC travel to take on Medway Women.

Captain Katie de la Cloche and her cronies head to Rochester on the back of a confident 22-12 win last time out, a home win over Horsham Women at CoinShares Park back on October 19.

Since then, the side have “enjoyed a decent break and have taken lots of learnings from a strong training block”, said star outside centre Georgina Ruellan. “I think everyone is really excited for this game.”

Jersey had a day to forget away at Medway back in February this year during the 2024/25 campaign, where they were swept aside in a 53-0 defeat, which backed up a home defeat in their first meeting back in October 2024, where Medway took home a 17-5 win from CoinShares Park.

However, Ruellan explained: “The last time we met Medway, we were facing some really tough conditions away from home and were also carrying a lot of injuries. However, this week I think we have a really strong squad, so to head back over there with such a good group feels really good and the girls are ready.”

Hosts Medway Women have bounced back from a challenging start to their own season. After an opening day home defeat to the strong and undefeated Dorking, they have rallied with back to back wins over Canterbury Women [29-10] and Hove Women [15-10].

Jersey however started their campaign with an impressive 33-12 home win over Portsmouth Valkyries Ladies, before a closely contested defeat away at Aylesford Bulls Ladies 22-21 in game two. The girls bounced back in impressive fashion with their Horsham win however and will put some pressure on the league’s top two with another win today.

Ruellan added: “I’m really excited to put everything we’ve been working towards in training into this game, and will be carrying the buzz and feeling of the win against Horsham a few weeks ago into this game.

“Overall we are wanting to stick to our principles and work as a team, which we are doing incredibly well at the moment. It’s an exciting opportunity for us, no doubt it’ll be a really tough test but one we’re really looking forward to.”

Action from Medway RFC today is scheduled for a 12.30pm start.
