JERSEY RFC Women return to action at CoinShares Park this Sunday at 1pm, hosting Horsham Women in the Women’s NC 1 South East (South) division.

The home side will be eager to respond after a 22-21 defeat away to Aylesford Bulls Ladies last weekend, where strong opponents denied them a second consecutive victory. The narrow loss followed an impressive opening day, where Jersey beat Portsmouth Valkyries 33-12.

Two rounds into the campaign, Jersey sit third in the table with six points, trailing early leaders Dorking Women and Hove Women, who both boast perfect records from their opening fixtures.

Sunday’s visitors, Horsham Women, have endured a difficult start to the season, suffering back-to-back defeats to Hove (37-5) and Dorking (35-5). With two losses and just ten points scored across both games, Horsham will arrive in Jersey seeking their first league points of the campaign.

Jersey’s top try-scorer this season, Georgina Ruellan, said the squad are eager to continue their strong start as they prepare to face Horsham Women.

“We’re all really excited for the game this weekend.” said Ruellan. “We have quite a strong rivalry with Horsham, so everyone is pumped.”

She added: “We’ve been working hard in training and really stepped up our contact and physicality. Horsham are an aggressive, physical side, so we’re ready to match that intensity and really bring it on Sunday.”

On paper, it’s a favourable fixture for the Reds, who will be confident in securing a second home win and maintaining pressure on the league’s early frontrunners.

This weekend is also offering a number of Jersey debuts. Elly Downing, Emma Cornick and Beth Wyatt will step onto the pitch for Jersey for the first time.

Action from CoinShares Park is set to get underway at 1pm, with Jersey hoping to make home advantage count once again in front of their supporters.
