JOY Training Ltd is redefining Jersey’s personal training landscape with the introduction of the Styku 3D infrared body composition scanner, now available at Club Carrefour.

Styku is a non-invasive system that uses harmless infrared light to create a detailed 3D model of the body, providing precise data on metrics such as fat percentage, muscle mass, and body circumference.

With few options in the Island for such an in-depth body analysis, Hollie Mcvittie’s business, Joy Training Ltd, is giving Islanders access to advanced health insights through specialist software that captures millions of measurements in seconds.

In a move unique to Jersey, Mcvittie has also partnered with local GP Dr Frederik Rud to combine the scans with optional blood testing, creating a comprehensive performance and health assessment.

Explaining the benefits, Mcvittie said: “It’s a performance test – it’s all-encompassing. It measures your HbA1c blood sugars, cholesterol, muscle proteins and thyroid hormones. All of the results come through to my website within 48 hours.”

“The blood testing is going to be really good for people who are serious about their training.”

Mcvittie is launching a dedicated online platform to help clients interpret their results more effectively. “You’ll be able to log in and see your results with colour-coded indicators,” she said.

“The website also helps you understand what each measurement means. For example, if you’re not sure what albumin is, there’s a drop-down that explains it’s a muscle protein.”

Discussing what makes her scanner stand out, Mcvittie explained: “The machine can hold up to 200kg, so anyone can use it. Many other scanners use bioelectrical impedance analysis, which can be thrown off by water or carbohydrates.”

“Ours uses infrared light instead of electricity, so it’s safe for people who are pregnant or have a pacemaker. You can use it any time of day and it remains completely accurate. It measures your muscle mass, circumferences, and BMI.”

From a training perspective, the system provides valuable data to guide both nutrition and exercise planning.

“If you tell it how many times you work out a week, it will calculate an ideal caloric deficit and even offer a goal date if you stick to the plan,” Mcvittie said. The scanner is now available to the public in a dedicated room at Club Carrefour.

“For Joy Training clients who are happy for their results to be stored online, the scan costs £30,” Mcvittie explained. “For members who prefer to keep their data offline, it’s £40, and for non-members, £50.”

Having been kindly invited to Mcvittie’s studio, I had the pleasure (and mild terror) of stepping in front of the Styku 3D body scanner.

Within minutes, I was faced with more information about my body than I ever knew existed, some fascinating, some slightly humbling. It’s remarkable how something that looks so simple can reveal so much, so quickly.

The level of detail and depth of analysis was genuinely impressive. In just a few minutes, I had a full breakdown of my body composition, metabolic rate, and even how many calories I burn through my somewhat relaxed training regime which, frankly, felt like cheating the system.

Whether you’re looking to lose fat, build muscle, or simply understand your body better, this machine is like having a scientific blueprint for your goals.

Mcvittie herself is an encyclopedia of fitness knowledge. As an ex-professional bodybuilder with years of experience in training and nutrition, her expertise brings the data to life.

The combination of her insight and the Styku’s precision makes for an incredibly smart approach to health and fitness.

With Dr Rud on board, the analysis is more thorough than ever. All this data gives you the tools to become a fitter, healthier you – and makes the whole process seem surprisingly simple.
