2025’s Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon put on an absolute show today, with its fair shar of elite performances, with some history made along the way, as well as great showings of spirt, grit and resilience.

Elite runner Simon Kimtai Kwarat was the first male to cross the line, achieving an incredible time of 2hrs, 17mins and 1sec. It was a remarkable performance, but narrowly fell short of breaking the record, as he came in just 57 seconds shy to fellow Kenyan Nathan Kioko’s course record.
Alice Braham rose to the occasion, as the 49-year-old delivered a performance for the ages, smashing the 12-year longstanding course record with a sensational run to top the women’s field.
Local talent was also on offer, with triathlete Ollie Turner coming in as Jersey’s first finisher at 2hrs 35 mins, making for an impressive marathon debut, while Fran Monticelli was Jersey’s first woman home, clocking in at 3hrs 11mins.
Team Jersey Spartan AC Endurance were the fastest in the five-person team relay, while Team Jersey Distance Runners topped the two-person relay event.
14-year-old Emil Friedrich made an impact, clocking in as the fastest to complete the Marathon Mile with an excellent 5mins 9secs.
A full report will be in Tuesday’s JEP.
